💪The Importance of Discipline and Goal-Setting 💪
One of the keys to productivity is discipline, and a routine is a great way to develop this discipline.
In fact, a routine allows us to take advantage of compound effects – just like in finance, when we improve a system by 1% every day, the effects can be incredible over time. It’s called the snowball effect.
🏋️♀️ My Personal Routine: An Example 🏋️♀️
For example, in my own routine, I make sure to do sports every day. I start with 3 sets of 10 push-ups, and every day I add one push-up to the last set, then to the second-to-last set, and so on. After a few weeks, I'm able to do sets of 15 push-ups!
💡 The Morning Routine: Setting Priorities and Avoiding Distractions 💡
The morning routine is particularly important – it's the time of day when we can define our priorities and plan our tasks for the day.
To help us concentrate without distraction, it's a good idea to put ourselves in "do not disturb" mode for at least 45 minutes.
🐸 The "Eat the Frog" Technique: Tackling Difficult Tasks First 🐸
Another technique that can be helpful is the "eat the frog" technique – this means tackling the most difficult task of the day right away, which can help free up our mind and make us feel more productive afterwards.
🎯 Setting Clear Goals: The OKR Method 🎯
To set clear goals, it's helpful to define one main goal, as well as three intermediate goals and five secondary goals.
This can help us stay focused and stay on track. However, it's also important to know where we want to go, and to set up objectives and key results (OKRs) for these objectives.
By following up on these OKRs weekly, we can make sure that we're making progress towards our goals.
